Dr Vibha Sharma, Consultant Paediatric Allergist at RMCH and Lead for the UK Fatal Anaphylaxis Registry highlights the fact in the British Medical Journal that although hospital admissions for anaphylaxis are rising, case fatality rate between 1998 and 2018 has fallen from 0.7% to 0.19%. They suggest that other conditions such as asthma may be incorrectly labelled as anaphylaxis and more careful scrutiny of cases is required to ensure accurate reporting (BMJ 2021;372:n656).
