Most children have mild COVID-19 disease, but it is still very common (1 in 8 school children had it in the last week in January).
It is easily spread to other family members and friends.
Allergic reactions are rare. The COVID vaccine is therefore recommended for all children 12 – 15 years old.
From April the vaccine will also be offered to all children 5 to 11 year olds. For more information click here.
Previous history of food or drug allergies are NOT a contra-indication for the vaccine.
Only children with previous reactions to the COVID vaccine need to be referred to an allergist.
