INFORMATION

Do:

  • Liaise with teachers and carers to make sure they know what allergies your child have and what your concerns are
  • Ensure that a duplicate allergy medicine pack is available at the school or nursery, with checks to ensure they are in date, in place, and readily available*
  • Consider a treat box in place so that the child is not left out during birthdays and celebrations

Do not:

  • Share food with other children
  • Join in cooking classes with foods which include your child’s allergen

CHECK

  • Staff know what symptoms of allergy to look out for and how to manage them
  • Identify key staff who will work with parents and children to establish a food allergy action plan
  • Discuss allowed foods with the child so they know which foods to avoid
  • *Expiry date alerts: EpiPen, JEXT
