The Department of Paediatric Allergy at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital provides a secondary allergy service for local children with common allergic symptoms, a rapid access service for patients referred from the Alder Hey A&E dept and a tertiary referral centre for evaluation of children with complicated allergic conditions such as multiple food allergies, chronic urticaria, bee and wasp allergy and drug allergy.

• adrenaline auto-injector training
• food challenges
• allergy management planning for home and schools

SPECIALIST EVALUATION AND MANAGEMENT

• insect venom allergy evaluation
• antibiotic and other drug challenges
• joint ENT, gastroenterology, clinics, close links with dermatology, haematology
• day case and inpatient evaluation and management of complex allergies
• oral, sublingual immunotherapy, subcutaneous immunotherapy

CUTTING EDGE RESEARCH AND TRIALS

• translational research in conjunction with Liverpool MRC Centre for Drug Safety Science
