Was there any evidence of allergy?

If no urticaria, angioedema edema distal to sting site, breathing problems or faintness, treat symptomatically, no allergy work-up required

If there were any allergy symptoms (urticarial, angioedema distant from the sting site, breathing problems or faintness)

Treat acute reaction – if anaphylaxis give adrenaline auto-injector, transfer by ambulance to emergency department

If in Emergency Department, take blood for total IgE and specific IgE to bee and wasp as well as mast cell tryptase

Prescribe an adrenaline auto-injector and teach the patient/parents how to use the device

Refer to specialist for further assessment and management
