Is it anaphylaxis?

If there are no breathing problems and/or faintness, this is not anaphylaxis.

Avoid/ remove allergen, administer antihistamine.

If acute anaphylaxis (breathing problems of faintness)

If faint lie patient down with feet raised; otherwise sit up.

Treat acute reaction – administer adrenaline auto-injector

Transfer by ambulance to Emergency Department

If in ED, consider taking 1ml of clotted blood for mast cell tryptase

All children suffering from anaphylaxis should be referred to a health care professional with experience in managing children’s allergies for further assssesment and management.
